Shameful: Reverend Docked Over Serial Rape of Minors , Pupils

The Director of Stephen Children Home Abeokuta ,Ogun State ,South-West Nigeria, Reverend Isaac Oluwole Newton On-Wuso was docked at Ogun State High Court,Abeokuta over allegations of serial raping , molestation , sexual assault of female pupils and child labour.
The Court document with file number charge number : AB/64C/2018 made available to Daily NewsTime show that the Principal, who claimed to be a Christian Cleric was dragged to court on a five count charge of rape , attempt to commit rape and indecent assault on female pupils of his school at Abeokuta ,Ogun State .
Though he (Newton-Wusu )pleaded not guilty to the charges , there are indications that he might face hard times in the cause of prosecution to exonerate himself from the allegations raised against him by the complainants,who are physical present at the Court to testify .
The complainant under aegis of Concerned Past Students of Stephen Children Home (COPASSTECH) at Obantoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State are insisting that the Director, Reverend Newton-Wusu of molested , rape and sexual Assaulted lots of female pupils .
In the court document signed by Barrister S.D. Maren on the Fiat of the Attorney-General of Ogun State referenced: 3rd December, 2018, ,Reverend Newton-Wusu in the first Count of the charges against him was accused of raping one Deborah Bala ,a then 12 -year- old pupil of his school in his office . According to the document , he drugged the girl at all occasions, when he raped her .
In the second count charge , Reverend Newton-Wusu was accused of attempting to commit rape with one Susan Rayner, 14 -year -old girl in the same office ,where he grabbed her ,ripped off her bra and removed her underwear .
In the count three ,he was accused of assaulting the same Susan Rayner.
Similarly , Reverend Newton-Wusu on the count four charge against him committed “Indecent Assault ” on one Eunice Bitrus ,14 year ,who was another pupil of his school. He was said to have “Ordered the girl to sit on his laps and forcefully squeezed and fondled her breast .”
In the vein, he did same with one Rifkatu Musa ,15 -years- old .
The prosecuting counsel, Solomon Maren under the fiat of the Attorney General of Ogun state informed the court that rape and attempt to rape are felony contrary to section 358 and 359 of the criminal code of the state laws.
In his written address, Barrister Maren accused Reverend Isaac Oluwole Newton-Wusu of cases of rapes and sexual assaults on female pupils of his school who refer to him as father .
In his defence, his Counsel Barrister Samuel Nwaji sought application for bail on ground of ill-health ,late service of court summons and self recognition .
In the sermon, he said the application is in pursuance to section 165,169,170,171 and section 36 (5) of the 1999 constitution.
He added that the application is backed by two affidavits ,which were deposed to by the applicant himself with eight exhibits attached to it.
While pleading that his client should be granted bail and be given 48 hours to perfect the bail conditions, Nwaji pleaded that the bail conditions should be liberal.
The presiding Judge, Justice Solomon Olugbemi after listening to the argument of the counsels granted Reverend Newton-Wusu bail on the following conditions: ‘ N5 million, with two responsible sureties, who must have developed properties with approved building plans.
Parts of the conditions was that the sureties must have documented evidence of three years tax clearance and be residents within the jurisdiction of the court.
The case was adjourned April 4, for further hearing.
