British holidaymaker found dead in hotel pool at Canary Islands Resort
A British holidaymaker has died after being found floating in a Fuerteventura hotel pool in the Canary Islands early this morning.
Hotel health workers and paramedics tried to revive the 53-year-old, named locally as Iain McKellar, after he was spotted in the water at his three-star resort just before 1am local time.
An 45-minute attempt to revive him was unsuccessful after he was found to have gone into cardiac arrest and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Well-placed sources said Mr McKellar was on holiday with his wife. It is not known where in the UK he is from.
Civil Guard officers have now launched an inquiry which is being coordinated by a local court.
