CAN Donate Relief Materials To Victims Of Kajuru Attacks

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), presented relief materials worth millions of naira to over 7,000 victims of various attacks in Kajuru local government area of the State.

The relief materials which were mostly foodstuff, cloths, shoes and school bags for children was presented to the leaders of the seven Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Kasuwan Magani for onward distribution to the victims across the local government.
Several communities in Kajuru Local government area have come under heavy attacks by bandits, killing and injuring hundreds of persons and houses completely destroyed thereby rendering thousands of persons homeless.
Delivering the relief materials on behalf of the Christian body, Chairman of the CAN relief material committee and CAN Chairman, Chikun local government, Rev. Shekwolo Ayuba Kasuwa said “CAN is deeply disturbing by the devastating effect the attacks on defenseless persons has brought to the people hence the need to participate in ensuring that those affected are taking care of.”

He said: “We shall continue to take serious the yearnings of the people. We are here to console you and to assure you of our readiness to stand with you and to also assure you that we shall continue to intensify prayers for the return of peace in the local government as well as the State in general.”
“We are appealing to good spirited and well to do persons to step forward and cushioned the effect of these attacks on the victims by providing relief materials as well as getting the children in the IDPs camps back to schools.
“While CAN will continue to support these victims of the mindless attacks in Kajuru and Sanga local government areas, we call on the government to live to its responsibility and oath office by protecting the lives and properties of its citizens,” he said.

Receiving the items, the CAN Chairman of Kajuru local government, Rev. Danjuma Makama, thanked the Christian body for the support given to the IDPs who have been neglected by government.
He assured the committee that the relief material will get to all the victims in the various IDPs camps across the local government.
He prayed for an end of the bandits attacks on communities across Kaduna State.
