Deputy Senate President’s Seat : Arewa Group Urges North, APC Members to Support Sen. Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya
Arewa APC Solidarity Forum (AASF) a group of APC supporters from the North has urged the North and the All Progressive Congress (APC) to rally round Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya (APC Kano South) for the office of Deputy President of the 9th Assembly.
Comrade Bulama Abdulrahman, leader of the group said in a statement that AASF and other well meaning Nigerians have been calling on the senator to vie for the office, adding that now that Senator Gaya has yielded to the call; all northerners should make this aspiration a reality.
The AASF leader further said that Senator, Gaya has the requisite experience for the office having served as Deputy Whip Senate from 2007-2011, and vice- chairman, Local and Foreign Debts, chairman States and Local Government Administration in the Senate 2011-2015.
He explained that if people from other regions like Rivers State are yearning for Senator Gaya’s deputy senate presidency, it therefore behove on the north to tow the line.
Comrade Abdulrahman also said the pensioners in the country are also for Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya’s deputy Senate presidency because of the role he played when he Co-chaired the Pension Committee of the Senate. Abdulrahman added that people from troubled spots like Southern Kaduna are for Gaya because he has done well to find permanent solution to the crisis in the area when he co-chair the Senate Committee on the crisis, he will certainly do more as deputy senate president. AASF leader added that electorate from Lagos and Edo States will celebrate Senate Gaya’s senate deputy presidency because of his ensuring facilities for the states when he chaired the ad-hoc committee on Local and Foreign Debts.
Bulama said that the Senator is one of the few persons that addressed the 140th Assembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) as the vice-president of the assembly (African Group) it’s on authoritative on record and would also go down in the long annals of history that is first African on the need to enhance education, peace, security, rule of law and justice for over 100 year’s world since the global body was established.
AASF leader said that its time the APC and north give good leadership to Nigerians by supporting credible candidates for principal officers for the 9th National Assembly.
