APC Women Beg Buhari to Consider More Women for Appointments
All Progressives Congress (APC) women in the North West Zone asked President Muhammadu Buhari to consider giving 35 per cent of appointments to women .
According to the women, the only way APC and President Buhari can compensate the hard work and commitment of women during campaigns is to give them appointments in the interest of inclusiveness .
Hajiya Yahanasu Buba Ahmad in a chat with Journalists on Sunday in Kaduna during the Zonal Women/Youth Leader North West Town Hall Meeting meant to appreciate the contributions of youth, women and all stakeholders of the North West Zone towards the success of the 2019 general elections at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Square ,said the demand is in line with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari’s appeal for appointments of more women .
She further said , “We are appealing to her that we get at least 35 percent appointment for Ministers and boards as she promised us at a meeting held in Lagos recently”.
Hajiya Buba Ahmed stressed that the government does not have to restrict its search for credible female candidates to graduates alone, as several women with school certificate are seasoned politicians and can deliver if given a chance.
“It doesn’t have to be graduates, even school certificate holders could be appointed,” she said.
She said she was proud that their zone produced the highest number of votes for President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that women and youth produced the highest number of votes.
“We gave Buhari the highest number of votes in the North West Zone and deserve to appreciated,” she stressed.
