Kaduna DisCo: We’ll begin meter deployment in four states
Kaduna electricity distribution company (DisCo) says it will begin the deployment of prepaid meters to its customers by June.
In a chat with TheCable on Thursday, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, head of corporate communications of the company, said the deployment will cover its franchise areas, Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
Abdullahi said the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved four meter asset providers to deploy 150,000 meters to its customers within a year.
The approved firms are Mojec International Ltd, Cresthill Engineering Ltd, Holley Metering Ltd and Integrated Power Ltd.
The distribution firm urged customers to visit its website or service centres and fill in a MAP request form.
“Once the form is filled and payment made, a meter shall be installed in the customer’s premises within 10 working days,” the company said.
“Customers can pay in full or by instalment into a dedicated bank account approved by Kaduna Electric.”
According to the MAPs regulation, customers are expected to pay N36,991.50 for single phase meters and N67,055.85 for three phase meters.
These costs are inclusive of supply, installation, maintenance and replacement of meters over its technical life.
On April 3, 2018, the NERC introduced the MAP regulation to new investors in the power sector to fast-track the roll-out of meters through the engagement of third-party investors.
