Community Sends Relief Materials to Ebonyi IDP Camp

In Ebonyi, the concern communities of Izzi Nnodo Nation in the state has sent some relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) scattered across the villages in Igbeagu community affected by the seemingly ending communal war between Ukelle in Yala Council area of Cross River State and Igbeagu in Izzi council area in Ebonyi state.
According to the Chairman of Izzi Forum and Traditional Ruler Nkaleke Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Sunday Nkwegu Oketa, the donation of the materials were sorted by concern communities of Izzi clan who shared the plight faced by the people living within the crises area as a way to ameliorate their hardship currently raging the people.

The Monarch commended the State, Governor Engr. David Umahi for restoring peace in all communities which have in diverse means faced a similar hostilities , particularly in Izzi land; stressing that the group in their own little way has used that means appreciate the peace initiative by the state government in order to support him thereby providing the affected war victims with foods and clothes.
The traditional ruler however, lamented that among the victims numbering over 300 are some of the people ,who are in various business ventures at Akajiok a community in Cross River State where they were chased away and looted their property over alleged missing Indigenes of the place along the Ukele and Igbeagu axis where tension was high at the peak of the crisis.
He further stated that the displaced persons are now subjected to untold hardship since they have no farm in their various villages coupled with the fact that many of them ran home to meet their extended families either in Internally Displaced Persons Camp or under a shade where they are taking refuge outside their village currently.

Eze Oketa appealed to Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Non Governmental Organizations and all good spirited Nigerians to come to the people assistance.

Earlier, the Traditional Ruler Igbeagu Autonomous Community His Royal Highness Eze Micheal Ogbonnaya Ukwa appreciated the people for being the first group that identified with the affected war victims when they mostly needed helps, calling other sister clans including Ezza Ezekunna and Ngbojiogu to show same gesture even as he pleaded with thr House of Representative Member representing Abakaliki\Izzi Federal Constituency, Hon Slyvester Ogbaga and Senator representing Ebonyi North, Dr Sam Egwu to come to the people aid.

Eze Ukwa also condemned rumour making the round that himself and some community stakeholders are still levying their people for continual sponsoring of the fight challenging those carrying the false news to come open before the state governor for them to dig out the claim.

The Peace Committee Chairman of Igbeagu and Ukelle communal crisis set up by Ebonyi State government, Prof. Francis Idike as well thanked the group, pointing out that peace is quick returning to the two communities in dispute, as according to him, they have ceased fire since they commenced negotiation.

Prof Idike, the former Vice Chancellor , Ebonyi State University appealed for more support from ministries of both Federal and State governments, urging the National Boundary Commission to hasten their plan for proper boundary demacartion as that would bring lasting solution to the conflict land.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries extolled the forum, appealing a good spirited group and individuals to equally come to their assistance.
