Kwara Assembly Speaker Hopeful, Salihu Danladi Unveils Legislative Agenda
The Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker hopeful, Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi representing Ilesha-Baruba/Gwanara Constituency has unveiled his legislative agenda ahead of inauguration on Tuesday.
Hon Yakubu Danladi who is the consensus candidate of Kwara North for speaker of 9th Assembly said the house under his leadership will introduce bills and review existing laws in order to improve wellbeing of the people across the state.
He stated that the 9th Kwara Assembly would be closer to the people by organising town meeting quarterly for members to update their constituents about governance issues and also facilitate attendance of public hearing when necessary.
The 34 Year-old politician the next assembly might review law establishing Kwara Infrastructure Development Fund (IF-K) and others with view of making it more efficient, effective and impactful to the society.
Danladi said he will also advocated for adoption of participatory budgeting system in Kwara, noting it will bring government closer to the citizenry, ensure delivery of impactful projects and give them dividends of democracy.
According to him, Participatory budgeting should be adopted by State and Federal governments to encourage active involvement of the people in governance. It will also create platform for democratic deliberation and decision-making, in which ordinary people decide how to allocate part of public budget.
He therefore urged other elected members to support his aspiration in the interest of fairness, justice and equity.
He however stated that comprehensive legislative agenda of 9th Kwara Assembly by all members, saying its collective responsibility of the whole house.
The Speaker hopeful also thanked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Kwara APC leadership for zoning the position to Kwara North.
‘I will not disappoint my party, my governor and the good people of Kwara, when elected as Speaker. I will be good Ambassador of Kwara North by God’s grace”. He noted.
