Intervention Loans: Ebonyi Tops Other States-CBN
…As business start again in Abakaliki rice mill

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has confirmed Ebonyi state as the topmost among the 36 states of the Federation in accessing Federal government intervention loans introduced by President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration.
The Assistant Director Corporate Communication of the apex bank, Mazi Samuel Okogbue made this known during a one day cash fair on ‘financial inclusion’ held in Abakiliki which was anchored on borrowers fund, bailout fund, infrastructure and agricultural loans.
Okogbue, further called on the participants and the people of the state to open a bank account, stressing that having bank account remains the bases to access any of the loans which the central bank has introduced for the people of the state including other Nigerians.
Also, Mrs Ngozi Eze who lectured the participants drawn from motor spear parts, building materials, mechanics, petty traders in the state on ‘Clean Note Policy’, assured them that the apex bank has taken notice of scarcity of lower denominations in circulation.
Mrs. Eze said, the lower denominations are already an issue in the society and CBN is working assiduously to make it available to banks so that market women, motor bike riders popularly known as Okader and others in small scale businesses would have it for effective transactions.
Meanwhile, customers and shop owners in Abakaliki rice mill have confirmed that business activities have returned back to normal after the robbery incident that took place early this month.
Ifeanyi Oyota and Favour Nwankwo, who are shop owners, spoke with our correspondent in Abakaliki rice mill yesterday said after the robbery incident there was fear and apprehension especially with their customers outside Abakaliki residence.
According to them, after the robbery incident buyers advised sellers to start accepting money transfer from them to avoid been attacked by hoodlums again.
The chairman of the rice mill, Hon. Samuel Ogodo said, in an effort to curb every menace he has requested that policemen should be stationed around the rice mill to check every vehicles coming in and going out both people’s movement withing the rice mill
Ogodo said, the presence of armed policemen has helped to curb robbery and other security challenges they have been facing for some time now because nobody has complained of been harassed in anyway.
He further explained that the man that was shot on his leg during the robbery attack is still receiving treatment in the hospital, noted that doctors handling his case has confirmed that the man can still walk with his leg again while investigation is still on going
Our Correspondent gathered that soon police will unravel the robbers and those behind the robbery incident.
