Surgery: Ebonyi Govt. Gives Financial Assistance to 91 Patients from other States

Ebonyi State government has expressed deep sympathy on patients from another states who are in a critical health condition now, but are only left to continue looking for a financial assistance from individuals and governments to raise money for their hospital bills in order to receive treatment that will facilitates the revival of their health statues.
The Governor of the state, Engr. David Nweze Umahi has on that regards donated N1.5 million Naira, including the Exco-members who have voluntarily made their respective donations amounting to millions of Naira as a way of bringing the health conditions of the patients normal.
The donations were made in Exco-Chamber, Government House, Abakaliki after the swearing in ceremony of the new members of Universal Basic Education Board in the state.
According to Governor Umahi, the patients numbering over 91 are between ages of 11 to 14, and they are indigenes of different states which include Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Abia, Cross River, Edo, Enugu, Imo, and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja looking for means to get a financial assistance for surgery treatment.
“The condition of the patients though from other states have really touched me. Indeed, I am touched and I want their state governors to be touched too to come to their aid. On behalf of the state I donate #1 million Naria. I equally donate N500,000 for on behalf of my family. So, you the state Exco-members are left to make your individual donations to save lives of those patients from another states, their lives are very important for us.”, Governor Umahi said.
Collaborating, the Special Assistance to the Governor on Religion and Welfare Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Abraham Chukwuma Nwali, donated #500, 000 to assist the patients, revealed that, there are presently 10 kids from the state that have accumulated hospital bills on debts of N36 millions waiting for the state governor to offset as other Ebonyi Exco-members and local government chairmen all made their respective donations on that issue.
Earlier, the state governor sworn in the Chairman and members of UBEB in the state, including the board Secretary and Ex-officios.
Speaking after the swearing in ceremony, Umahi thanked the new members of the board, and as well charged them to leave no stone unturned in monitoring and supervising schools under their jurisdiction.
He insisted that his administration is not ready to work with an idle person appointed into any position in his second term, hinted that every appointee should always be at alert in case of any emergency, calling for their special assignments in respect to their offices.
Umahi added that his focus is to ensure Ebonyi State always takes first position on excellent references in educational sector in the country, as he said that, about N7.9 millions would be spent in next 3 months to renovate schools in Ebonyi state, saying that the Civil Engineers and Architects who would handle the works on the identified schools by the state government had been appointed.
As the governor encouraged workers to adopt new trends in technology to improve their livelihoods, he announced that Government Secondary School Afikpo, Presco Seconday School Abakaliki and Ezza High School, Onueke have selected by his government to be used as special and vocational schools in the state, adding that, it is only students who would make up 90 percent and above in the general common entrance have chance of being admitted into the schools.
