SDP Holds Meeting ,Takes Measures to Weed Out ‘predators’ in Party
By Femi Adi
The National Working Committee of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) held a meeting recently to review State of the Party Nationwide.
According to the party, the efforts to unite and enable the cohesion of tendencies in the Party after the elections is being scuttled by unelected individuals claiming to be occupying elective National positions.
In a press statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary,Alfa Mohammed, SDP at the meeting held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel,Abuja on Wednesday resolved that the Secretariat of the party takes all necessary proactive actions, to ensure that “These disruptive predatory political elements are weeded out of the Party as a matter of urgency.”
The Party at the meeting presided over by the Acting National Chairman of SDP ,Chief Supo Shonibare, expressed anger over complaints from many State chapters of letters emanating from Alhaji Shehu Gabam, purporting to be the National Secretary of the Party, purporting to suspend elected State Chairmen and National officers. Members must note that neither Professor Tunde Adeniran nor Alhaji Shehu Gabam were ever elected into any National Executive Committee position of the Party.
It however urged members to ignore the letters under either their hands or any other person or persons not elected at the last elective National Convention of our Party in 2016.
However , the Party sends its condolences to Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the Leader of Afenifere on the brutal murder of his daughter & enjoins the Federal government to embrace the Restructuring template & to immediately initiate the process to rejig the security architecture of the Country, to enable the States exercise the primary responsibility to secure life & property of its citizens. The State of Insecurity is becoming endemic.
It also commiserated with Professor Jerry Gana on the passing away of his younger brother.
