Senator Shehu Sani has warned northerners against thinking of holding political power beyond President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure ,which terminates in 2023.
According to Senator Shehu Sani ,who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly ,it would amount to an act of ungratefulness for the North to hold onto power beyond 2023.
The senatorial candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in 2019 election ,who was at Alhaji Balarabe Musa’s residence when some journalists paid Sallah homage to the former Kaduna Governor said ,it would be unfair for North to think of retaining power after the South ,especially the Southwest gave President Buhari the needed support to win the 2015 elections .
He also said President Muhammadu Buhari was able to clinch the highly covetted seat of the President in 2015 and 2019 ,because of the support he got from other geo-political zones after failing on three consecutive times to get any major support from other zones.
He however, warned that the North must put its house in order and address the problem of majority versus minority tribes in the region in order to make sustainable progress.
