Illicit Drugs : Kaduna NSCDC Parades Suspect ,Hands over to NDLEA

Determined to reduce increasing incidence of illicit drugs consumption in Kaduna State, the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence has paraded and handed over three suspected dealers to NDLEA for further investigation and appropriate sanctions .
The suspects gave their names as Shafiyu Lawal, 28 years, Zaharadeen Yakubu and Aminu Isa,
25 years.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma, expressed worry on the menace

stating that in spite of measures put in place by government and relevant agencies, some saboteurs still indulge in the crime unabated.

While calling on parents and guardians to ensure good upbringing of their children and wards, Dutsinma expressed optimism that with continuous efforts, the menace will become a thing of

the past one day.

The offence for which the suspects were arrested as he said violates Section 268of the Penal Code which prohibits sale of illicit drinks or banned substance in the state.

Interrogation reveals that the suspects have been indulged in the illicit act from four to eight years around Makera in Kawo area, Kaduna-North LGA.
They were arrested by members of Civil Joint Taskforce on 22nd September, 2019 and handed over to the corps with exhibits such as Tramadol, Axzol 5, Valinex 5, and Diazapam.
While the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps restates commitment to rid the state of crimes, it called on the law abiding and good people of the state to furnish it with timely and useful information to success in its set goals.
Meanwhile, the NSCDC Commandant ,who hosted Kaduna journalists in his office today , said the media is the bridge between the people and government , stressing ,” without journalism there will be no government and without journalism there will be no people”

According to him , any government agency and institution that wants to achieve and desired progress must relate well with journalists .
“We appreciated the contributions of the media and journalists for the feat achieved at NSCDC since inception till date .
Explaining the motive behind inviting journalists for the parley , the Commandant said ,” I was posted here to work. And to achieve any meaningful progress and development , there is the need to work closely with journalists .”
While stating that there also is a need for synergy and collaboration with other security agencies to make Kaduna a peaceful state , he said , ” We have created a Quick Response unit to ensure that we get feedbacks and response to distressed calls on any security challenge .”
