There was only one person that could be on the front of today’s matchday programme and there’s a fascinating interview with Carlo Ancelotti on the legacy he wants to build at Goodison Park.
He talks of when he joined an AC Milan team who finished sixth the season before he was there and he ended up winning the Champions League and Club World Cup in a near-eight year stay at the San Siro. He also references ending Paris St-Germain’s 19-year wait for a French title.
“The project was really good at PSG and that’s what attracted me to the club – it’s the same with Everton,” says the 60-year-old Italian. “The tradition and history is an attraction – Everton is one of the biggest clubs in England.
“I’m really excited. I want to give happiness to the supporters because a lot of time has passed without this club winning trophies. Everton is a fantastic club and my dream is to bring them to the top positions of the Premier League as soon as possible.”
