Izzi Nation in Ebonyi State has unitedly paid the 2019 Christmas Courtesy Visit to the first citizen of the state, Governor David Nweze Umahi at his country home, Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state.

The clan who is made up of three local government areas has unanimously paid a Christmas homage to the Governor and also thanked him for lifting the face of Izzi Nation and the state in general.

According to a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mr. Leo Ekene Oketa, the three council areas including Abakaliki, Ebonyi and Izzi in the clan paid a Christmas visit to the state Governor on Sunday, December 29, 2019, and noted that, “it was a customary visit but symbolic in various ways as the clan was led by the third citizen of Ebonyi State, the Honourable Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna E. Nwifuru of Izzi West Constituency.”

Part of the statement also read that, Speaker Nwifuru extolled with every sense of humility and honour on the magnificent achievements of Governor Umahi in developing Izzi land and also for his love to the clan since his inception of office.

“Izzi has always stuck together, we have never been defeated in any way, that is why we are living together, we have never been separated. Your Excellency, our purpose for being here today is to celebrate with you, because we have a lot to show for it; to celebrate with you, because we are proud of you; to celebrate with you, because you have developed our land.

“We lack words to define what you’ve done for the three Local Governments that make up Izzi clan. You did not only lift the face of Abakaliki town, but the face of the entire clan. Speaker Nwifuru said.

“Today everybody can be proud to say, I’m from Abakaliki and I reside in Abakaliki. We the Izzi, we did not struggle to make that place a capital city, it was because of our hospitality that it was made capital city, and what we have resolved, is that every government will have our loyalty. This your government has done a lot for us”, Speaker was quoted.

The Governor, reportedly was full of praise of Izzi people and thanked them mostly for maintaining peace in the state and equally commended their gifts offered to him. He also promoted one of his appointees from the clan, Mrs. Ann Aligwe from Special Assistant on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises to Senior Special Assistant on Human Capital Development and Monitoring; amongst other kind gestures.
