The former students of Department of Office Technology Management (Secretarial Studies) under aegis of Millennium Friends Alumni today converged on Kaduna to hold the second edition of the reunion meeting .
The meeting attended by members across the states of Nigeria ,was organised to discuss progress and development of the Alumni Association.
In his speech , during the event held at the Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) ,Kaduna State , the Chairman of Millennium friends Alumni ,Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi Attajiri said the 2nd edition of the Reunion is a milestone and historic considering the significance of the programme , especially that it has been under planning for almost eight years now.
“But Glory to God Almighty, today we are here gathered with excitement and full of joy to see ourselves reuniting and reconnecting after a very long time.
“We are therefore highly grateful to our Lord for sparing our lives to witness this historic occasion in sound mind and good health, some of us are not here not because, they don’t believe in the project, No! but because of reasons beyond their control. ” He stated .
While noting that few members are not present because they have died , he prayed for their “souls rest in perfect peace” .However, the Chairman however, expressed optimism that the next meeting would be attended by all members without any hitch .
He further explained : “The primary essence of this forum is to unite us all and assist each other where necessary and give back to the Department as our alma mater. By so doing we will in the shortest period of time affect so many lives positively.
“We hope fervently that within the year the millennium friends will mobilize and solicit support for the provision of high capacity Generating set that will power the Computer Laboratories which we observe is one of the major needs of the department at present.” In a chat with journalists shortly after the event , the Secretary General of the Millennium Friends Alumni , Malam Ahmed Moh’d Baba popularly know as Dutch Muller ,said the meeting was not only a huge success ,but also a an opportunity to review the vision and mission of the Alumni by helping to build a virile mutualistic and beneficial relationship among its member and friends, to also synergize with the management of the Department to be able to do justice by giving back to the department. Because without the root connection from the department, we wouldn’t have been where we are today.
Similarly a consultant who equally was a friend to the department in the person of Moshood Lawal delivered a well prepared paper titled “the effect of Reunion and giving back”, which was well delivered to the appreciation of all in attendance.
