COVID 19: ONE OF THE CONFIRMED CASES IN NIGER STATE TEST NEGATIVE
……AWAITS SECOND NEGATIVE RESULT TO BE DECLARED RECOVERED
One of the confirmed cases of COVID 19 in Niger State has now tested negative and awaits a second confirmation result to be declared fully recovered from coronavirus.
This formed part of the brief given to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello by the Commisioner of Health and the Covid19 State Task-Force Committee
The Commissioner said 75 contacts have been traced for the two confirmed cases and that a Community Case Search Committee will be established to search for suspected cases in communities.
He explained that contacts of the index case in Limawa community have exited the 14 days quarantine and the results of 5 samples from the immediate contacts returned negative even as 54 out of 62 persons quarantined in the State Centre have been discharged leaving eight under close observation.
The Commissioner said in the mean time five persons out of 89 are observing self quarantine under close monitoring while 84 have conmpleted self quarantine without any symptoms.
He stressed that so far, the State has not recorded any COVID 19 related death and that confirmed cases still stands at two, their contacts have been successfully traced adding that 90 signals have been received and attended to and the total of 45 samples sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC with 41 results received.
He said the state is collaborating with NCDC to ensure the establishment of a molecular laboratory for conducting tests for Covid19 and other related diseases.
