Ebonyi State government, today, directed the security agencies to take over the disputed pieces of land of Isunkwo-Ukawu and Abaomege in Onicha Local Government Area of the state, causing crisis between the two communities in the area.
This was made known in a press statement issued and handed over to journalists by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Orji Uche Orji.
According to the statement, Governor David Umahi had been saddened over the activities of Isinkwo- Ukawu youths and Abaomege youths in Onicha Council Area and hinted that the two Communities had resorted to taking laws into their hands by inflicting injuries on the people in their area because of land dispute.
Umahi also was said to have directed the security agencies to take over the two communities and immediately restore law and order in the warring communities.
It was gathered that the state government had in line with the laws of the state, taken over the disputed piece and it becomes effective on 6th June, 2020.
In the same vein, the governor was equally said to have directed the Commissioner for lands and Survey, Hon. Moses Oshibe to immediately move to compulsorily acquire the disputed land for the state government in overriding public interest: warning the two warring communities to desert the disputed land.
