The Federal High court sitting at Abuja today dismissed the objection raised by Prof Adeniran Group and INEC challenging the Court’s jurisdiction to hear the case brought against them by SDP, Shonibare & Ors, seeking the order of the court to restrain Adeniran & Ors from parading themselves as National leaders of the SDP, as against Chief Supo Shonibare led National Executive Committee.
In assuming jurisdiction to hear the case on merit, Hon. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu adjourned the case to 2nd and 3rd of June 2021 for hearing.
The Court further gave notice that it will grant accelerated hearing of the case.
It may be recalled that the SDP leadership crisis ignited in early 2019 when the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Chief Olu-Falae resigned from office without calling a NEC meeting and handed a handover letter to Prof. Tunde Adeniran, a non member of the elected National Executive Committee of the party, against the decision of the National Executive Committee which met and appointed its South-west National Vice Chairman, Chief Supu Shonibare as the acting National chairman pending the next National convention.
