The leadership of Youth Wing of Christians Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Adamawa State chapter has partnered with Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) and Green Eagles to engage Youth in dry season farming of Rice in the state.
The state Chairman of the Association, Rev. Gabriel L. Shall in a press statement said his leadership is making a collaborative effort in creating much awareness for the youths to leverage on the state’s abundant arable lands across the twenty-one local government areas.
According to him, they are targeting the Youths of Demsa Local Government of the state in a pilot project to later extend the plans to other local governments.
He said the essence of the collaboration is for the youth to fight poverty as they can’t underestimate the importance of Dry season Rice farming which can turn their lives to be more productive and meaningful.
“Dry season rice farming will reduce the gap of unemployment and boost agriculture in Nigeria,” Shall said
He called on Government at all levels to invest and focus more on the youths knowing the fact that they are the economic backbone of every Nation.
While appreciating the representatives of RIFAN, and Green Eagle for the opportunity of engaging Adamawa Youths to Anchor borrowers program and he stressed the need for the Youths to never misuse or play around with the ample privilege given.
“We want to seize the opportunity that RIFAN in Adamawa State wants to move about 10,000 youths into multi-millions Naira ventures in the next two years.
“Let’s mobilize ourselves, let’s proactively take advantage of this opportunity and save ourselves from the quagmire of joblessness,” Gabriel Stated
