The Chairman of Yoruba Council of Obas and Chiefs in the 19 Northern states and Abuja, Amb. Mohammed Arigbabuwo, has said, there is the need for the involvement of traditional rulers in the scheme of affairs, considering the current situation of the nation.
Arigbabuwo noted that with the situation of the country at the moment, requires the coming together of all and sundry to save the nation from total collapse, while urging that traditional institutions be involved in the way to move the nation forward.
He asserted these in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday.
In the statement, he said: “looking at the roles the traditional institutions played in the past before the coming of Dasuki report on the activities of traditional rulers and the transfer of their roles to local government, they are the father to all and they are given attention any time, and whenever their subjects encounter any problem which they are always ready to contribute their wisdom.
” Their involvement at this time in the history of our nation cannot therefore be overemphasized.
” This call has become necessary, following the recent meetings of traditional rulers in different part of the country where they all express sadness at the turn of events.
“Although, it is not possible for them alone, the traditional rulers to get to the roots of the problems, citizens also has a role to play in making sure that all is well with our country. We should all realise that we don’t have any other country to call our own, if the events becomes unbearable.
“At this juncture, I want to commend our armed forces for their commitment towards finding everlasting solution to the myriad of problems, the nation is currently passing through.”
Arigbabuwo further advised that the security agencies should not relent in their efforts, adding that they are the last hope of the country and prayed to God for their guidance.
He therefore call on all States governors to intensify efforts in taken the current insecurity its kneel and work on intelligent reports from their respective areas.
