Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prof. Joseph Albasu Kunini, on Saturday, 5th February, 2022 joined hundreds of sympathizers to mourn sudden death of the Councilor representing Lau “A” Ward at Lau Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Hamisu Suleiman (fondly called Shagari).
The popular local government legislator, who died after brief illness at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, was buried at the Muslims Cemetery, Lau, after a valedictory ceremony presided over by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Margaret Joseph.
While condoling members of the deceased’s family, the Speaker, who is member representing Lau State Constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, stated that he got the news of the sudden death of the councilor with rude shock and disbelief, just as he stressed that every mortal must taste death.
“I lack enough words to express my heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased; also, I lack the superlative to describe his character.
“He was my ardent supporter and a staunch member of the PDP; he was detribalized and he got along with all manners of people, irrespective of tribe and religion,” he said.
Hon. Shagari who served two terms as Councilor representing Lau “A” Ward is survived by a wife, four children, aged mother, many siblings and relatives.
